Coppin State University’s P2P Stackable Credentials Program Breaks Records, Redefining the Future of Education

Coppin State University’s Pathways to Professions (P2P) Stackable Credentials program is reshaping the educational landscape, achieving record-breaking growth since its launch in Fall 2023. In just one year, the program has more than doubled its enrollment, marking a remarkable 115% increase, with a stellar 98% course completion rate and 97% competency mastery.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

Campus Event: Marty and the Hands That Could

Barbados Community College Officials Visit DSU

A delegation from Barbados Community College (BCC) joined its collaborators at Delaware State University to learn more about the First State’s only Historically Black Institution of Higher Education and to plan the second academic year of its joint program.


DSU welcomed Samuel Bowen, BCC Deputy Principal; Dr. Raquel Collymore, BCC Director of Counseling and Placement; Dr. Caroline Woodroffe-Holder, BCC Assistant Registrar; and Hakeem Greenridge, Technical Support Specialist to its main campus on Oct. 7.

Collaborative Early Childhood Center Celebrates Success with Beam Signing

As the workforce in Delaware continues to evolve, so, too, does the need for early childhood professionals and one partnership is ready to tackle the issue head on.

A new, state-of-the-art learning facility is now underway as a result of that collaborative effort between Delaware’s Department of Education, Governor John Carney’s office and Delaware State University (DSU)’s Education Department which was officially announced in November 2021. Plans quickly started taking shape as DSU worked to develop a statewide infrastructure for those hoping to enter the early childhood education profession through the Early Childhood Innovation Center, or ECIC for short.

Morgan’s Magnificent Marching Machine Selected to Perform in the 137th Rose Parade in 2026

In the follow-up to a momentous performance in France as the first-ever Historically Black College or University (HBCU) to participate in the annual D-Day memorial parade, Morgan State University’s Magnificent Marching Machine marching band will add another historic first to its already impressive list of achievements. During a special halftime presentation at Morgan’s 2024 Homecoming football game, the Magnificent Marching Machine, led by Director of Bands Jorim E. Reid Sr., D.M.A., announced before thousands of attendees and supporters that the band has been selected by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association to perform in the 137th Rose Parade in 2026.

School of Education & Urban Studies Launches Innovative PhD in Education

Beginning in Fall 2024, Morgan State University’s School of Education & Urban Studies will launch a transformative Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education, housed within the Department of Advanced Studies, Leadership, and Policy. As Maryland’s preeminent Public Urban Research University, Morgan State University is committed to addressing the educational needs of communities in Baltimore and beyond. This new program underscores the University’s mission by preparing the next generation of leaders, researchers, and educators to tackle the complex challenges facing education today.

Virginia Senate Debate Hosted at Norfolk State University

Norfolk State University hosted a live televised Senate Debate on Wednesday, October 2 in the L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center. The Debate, in partnership with Norfolk State and WAVY-10, featured candidates Sen. Tim Kaine (D) and challenger Hung Cao (R) discussing key issues such as education, healthcare, and economic development. Each candidate strongly outlined their vision for the state’s future, emphasizing their policies and experiences.

Engaging with the Community

NSU President Javaune Adams-Gaston attended the annual Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce 2024 State of the Region, which is presented by the Dragas Center for Economic Analysis and Policy at Old Dominion University. The State of the Region touts the area’s strengths but with an eye toward challenges, providing leaders with insights they can use to serve their respective communities.

NCCU and Wilmette Institute Commit to Collaborating on Social Change

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) and the Wilmette Institute signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at nothing less than social transformation.

“We are really excited to be on an exploratory journey with NCCU to raise capacity in the next generation of changemakers and to work toward the collective advancement of society,” said Chitra Golestani, Ph.D., deputy director of the Wilmette Institute.

NCCU Law and Technology Symposium and Summit on Oct. 10-11

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Technology Law and Policy Center will host the 2024 Law and Technology Symposium and Summit on Oct. 10-11, 2024. The two-day event will take place at NCCU School of Law on Thursday, Oct. 10 and at the Durham Convention Center, located at 301 West Morgan Street, Durham, N.C., on Friday, Oct. 11.

SC State Career Center honors Students, Employer Partners at Annual Banquet

South Carolina State University’s Career Center honored more than 40 students and 12 employers during the center’s annual awards banquet on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Orangeburg Country Club.

Career Center Director Joseph Thomas recognized students who earned internships and scholarships and presented plaques to employers who provided the students with those opportunities.

Two South Carolina State University scientists earned international recognition for pioneering work in brain-computer interface, a system that allows a person to control a device using their brain signals.
